What’s New?

The 2023 X5 may have a few changes to its packaging, but for the most part, the popular luxury SUV remains unchanged. The optional Premium package excludes gesture controls for the iDrive infotainment system but includes a wireless smartphone charging pad. Sensafin, a new vegan faux-leather option, now replaces BMW’s SensaTec animal-free faux-leather and the optional Vernasca leather upholstery.

Engine and Performance

The 2023 X5 offers three distinct powertrains, all of which are guaranteed to satisfy every driving enthusiast. The xDrive40i and sDrive40i trims are powered by a base engine: a turbocharged inline-six with 335 horsepower. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid xDrive45e is powered by an electric motor and turbocharged inline-six engine that generate a combined 389 horsepower.

The M50i and M trims are powered by a capable twin-turbo V-8 that can churn out up to 523 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission comes standard across the entire lineup for maximum performance and smooth shifting between gears.

Gas Mileage

Rear-wheel drive models with the base engine get an impressive 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. When running only on battery power, the plug-in hybrid version gets a combined 50 mpg equivalent.

Ride and Handling

With the 2023 X5, you can expect a confident and engaging ride. The minimal body roll ensures superior stability when cornering, while the smooth ride ensures maximum comfort over bumpy terrain.
