There are plenty of reasons why people choose Fayetteville NC as their new home. Maybe it’s the lively climate, the Southern hospitality, or the cost of living. Whatever the reason, we think you’ll agree that Fayetteville is a great place to be. Once you’re settled in, you’ll want to check out some of the local attractions. Here are a few of our favorites:

1. Airborne and Special Operations Museum

Established in 2002, the Airborne and Special Operations Museum is a great place to learn about the history and evolution of the U.S. Army Airborne and Special Operations Forces. The museum is designed to educate and inform the public about the role these forces have played in the past and present military conflicts, including World War II, the Cold War, and the Global War on Terror.

The museum is also home to several artifacts and exhibits that are sure to interest and educate visitors of all ages. They even have adequate parking, so finding a spot for your 2022 BMW X3 won’t be an issue. We recommend the Pritzker Simulator, which allows you to experience how troops were transported from World War 2 up until the present day.

2. The North Carolina Veterans Park

Fayetteville has a rich military history, so it’s no surprise that one of our favorite local spots is the North Carolina Veterans Park. The park is a beautiful and peaceful space that honors the service and sacrifice of all North Carolina veterans.

The park features an interactive story garden & commemorative sculptures, and you’ll get to see a chandelier made of 33,500 dog tags that belonged to North Carolina service members. It’s the perfect place to go for a walk or to reflect on the sacrifices made by our brave men and women in uniform.

3. Market House

Considered the focal point of downtown Fayetteville, the Market House is a great place to visit if you’re looking for some local history. It was built in 1838 and served as a marketplace for farmers and traders to sell goods. It was recognized as a landmark in 1973 as one of the 50 National Landmarks found in North Carolina. You cannot travel to Fayetteville and not visit this impressive piece of North Carolina’s history.

4. 1897 Poe House

The Poe House is a historic house museum that was once the home of the famous writer, poet, editor, and literary critic Edgar Allan Poe. The house was built in 1897 and is a great example of the Eastlake movement / Stick Style of architecture. It’s now open to the public as a museum, and you can take a guided tour to learn more about the house as well as the social and economic changes in southern North Carolina in the early 1900s and beyond.

5. Segra Stadium

Segra Stadium is a state-of-the-art baseball stadium that is home to the minor league Fayetteville Woodpeckers. The stadium opened in 2019 and can seat up to 4,786 fans. You’ll definitely want to catch a game here if you’re a baseball fan.
