Car AC Not Working? Visit Your Fayetteville BMW Dealer

When the heat of summer kicks into high gear, there’s nothing more demoralizing than getting into your car, turning on the engine, and noticing your car AC not working as is should be. This leaves you in for a sweaty, unpleasant drive, so we want to make sure you can get that fixed as soon as possible at your local BMW dealer. Here are some things they can do to help you out.

Unblock Your Condenser

One crucial component of your car’s AC unit is the condenser. This piece of machinery takes in cool air from outside your car that passes through the grille and uses it to cool down used refrigerant. As such, if there is anything blocking the grille, the refrigerant won’t be able to be cooled down enough. Your grille can be blocked by a variety of materials, and one of the most common ones is dirt and other debris from the road.

You can tell that this might be your problem if you turn on your AC and don’t feel ice-cold air, but rather just feel lukewarm or slightly cool air. Luckily, a skilled BMW technician can fix this problem without too much difficulty, so don’t hesitate to bring your car in to the BMW shop!

Check for Leaks

Your car’s AC unit uses a refrigerating liquid to bring the air down to a comfortable temperature. Without this refrigerant, there is no way to change the air’s temperature. As such, this is the most important component of the AC unit. If you turn on your AC and don’t feel like you have any cold air at all, you could be experiencing a refrigerant leak.

Finding the leak and fixing it yourself can be a bit of a challenge, which is why we recommend letting BMW technicians take a look at it. They can find and replace any faulty tubes or connectors that could be the source of the leak.

Fix Your Fans

To bring the cool air from the AC unit to you, there are several electric fans. These fans run on electricity, so they are vulnerable to failure. This could be cause by faulty or frayed wiring, as well as short-circuiting of the motors. You can tell this has happened if no air blows through the vents when you turn on the AC. You might also hear clicking, which could indicate that your fans are being obstructed by debris.

If a faulty AC unit has you hot and sweating bullets, then don’t wait any longer! Bring your car in to Valley Auto World BMW and we’ll have you feeling cool air again in no time at all.
