Three Things That Are Covered Under BMW's Extended Warranty

An extended warranty can be a great resource for drivers who want to minimize the cost of unexpected repairs. At your BMW dealer, you will be able to explore all the BMW warranty plans available. These plans last for seven years or up to 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. You can pick the warranty plan that fits your lifestyle and driving needs the best.

1. Powertrain

Each of the three BMW extended protection plans will cover the powertrain. For the Powertrain Plus plan, there is limited coverage for the engine, transmission, final drive assembly, electrical, cooling system, and fuel system, while the transfer case and induction system are totally covered. The Gold Plan will fully cover every part of the powertrain, except for the electrical system, which has limited coverage. The Platinum Plan offers comprehensive powertrain protection.

2. Heating and Air Conditioning

Both the Platinum Plan and Gold Plan will cover the heating and air conditioning systems in your BMW. This is an important area for coverage, so the cabin of your vehicle can have reliable temperature regulation.

3. Brakes

The Gold Plan and the Platinum Plan will cover important brake components, as well as the steering system. Coverage for the brake system can save you money on the cost of brake pad replacement or brake line repairs.

Are All BMWs Eligible for Extended Protection?

BMW extended coverage plans are compatible with all BMW vehicles, which means you can purchase vehicle protection for a brand-new, used, or certified pre-owned BMW. These vehicle protection plans are transferable to new owners.

When Should You Purchase Vehicle Protection at Your BMW Dealer?

Drivers can only purchase a BMW vehicle protection plan when the BMW is still within the factory warranty period, which lasts for four years or up to 50,000 miles for new BMW vehicles. You also have the option of purchasing extended protection for your certified pre-owned BMW if the vehicle is still within the warranty period that comes with certified pre-owned vehicles.

If you miss the end of either of these periods, you will not be able to enjoy a longer warranty, which is why the best time to purchase vehicle protection is when you buy your new, used, or certified pre-owned BMW from your dealership. The cost of your warranty and details about your coverage, such as the deductible amount, can be determined at the time of vehicle purchase.

A longer warranty is a great way to ensure you don’t have to pay the full cost of unanticipated repairs for mechanical issues. All BMW vehicles that still have an active CPO or factory warranty are eligible for a vehicle protection plan from the manufacturer.
