The BMW i3, a compact electric car, has been updated for the 2017 model year with a new lithium-ion battery featuring 50-percent increased capacity. It yields 33.0kWh while remaining the same size as the 22.0kWh version. The BMW i3 is actually the most efficient vehicle in its class, thanks to its exceptionally low electricity consumption. This gives the 2017 BMW i3 a range of up to 114 miles combined city and highway driving.
Fuel efficiency isn’t the only defining trait of the new BMW i3, either. It is excitingly sporty. Its electric motor generates 170 HP and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, and it can push the BMW i3 to 60 MPH in just over 7 seconds. The rear-wheel drive 2017 BMW i3 is the lightest car in its segment, and features a near perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Its small turning circle of just 32.3 feet makes it perfect for city driving.
Interior features include recycled seat materials, wood trim in eucalyptus or dark oak, a leather trimmed steering wheel, push button ignition, automatic climate control, and an available sunroof. Plus, drivers can now purchase a BMW i3 in Protonic Blue, a color previously exclusive to the i8.
